FAQ

 

Do I need to buy a ticket?

Nope! Lumens is free to the public—no admission cost. Donations are appreciated, but not mandatory. Cash and online donations will be accepted at the exhibit.

Is Lumens Safe?

Lumens is safe for the general public, but those with medical implants or photosensitivity disorders should use caution.

This exhibit contains low light levels, flashing lights, and sounds that may be disruptive to some visitors. Viewer discretion is advised to those with light sensitivities or seizure disorders, such as photosensitive epilepsy.

High magnetic fields may also be present within the exhibit. Persons with electronic medical implants such as pacemakers and hearing aids should be aware artwork may interfere with implant operation. It is recommended that individuals with medical devices keep a safe distance away from the artwork.

Can I take photos?

Sure! But there are a few rules.

No flash photography and no professional photography/videography equipment is allowed, including but not limited to: tripods, gimbals, GoPro, etc. Photos and media taken inside are permitted for personal use only. The display or sale of any such media is strictly prohibited and generally uncool.

Can I bring my dog/cat/hamster?

Due to the sensitive nature of the artwork, no animals are permitted. Leashed service animals that are trained to assist an individual with a disability, in accordance with the ADA guidelines, are permitted. Please notify the staff if you have a service animal before entering Lumens.

What about kids?

Children are welcomed at Lumens, but be advised that the exhibit is not child-friendly. The artwork on display is sensitive in nature, including delicate glasswork and electronic devices. Artwork should not be touched. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Groups will be asked to leave if a child is found unattended in the exhibit.

What else should I know about Lumens?

  • Short Tesla coil demonstrations will be held every thirty minutes on Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm-9pm. Demonstrations may be cancelled without notice due to crowding, safety concerns, or technical difficulties.

  • One-hour private viewings are available to anyone. Please use the online form to schedule.

  • No outside food or drink is allow inside.

  • Large backpacks and other bulky items should be left at the front desk. You wouldn’t want to knock over a plasma tube!

  • Artwork is not to be touched.

Is any of the art for sale?

All sales are handled on an individual basis outside of the exhibit. Please contact the artist for all sale information.
